Update

Hey all! So our Valentine's weekend was WONDERFUL! We spent the weekend in Blowing Rock at the Yohnalassee Resort. It was FABULOUS! Our cottage was so cute and very nice. Off of our deck you could see Grandfather Mountain!

We had a great time sightseeing, shopping, and eating out. We travelled to the top of Grandfather mountain and talk about COLD. It was like 30 degrees...the clouds were low, and the wind was blowing atleast 50 mph. We went to the bridge...I went about 1/4 of the way across and Jason made it the whole way!

It really was a nice, relaxing weekend. I had never been before and I can't wait to go back!

Love is in the air

So I got this idea from another friends post and loved it. The pictures above are my grandparents. Even though I never knew my grandfather, you could tell from stories and pictures how much they were in love. I can only hope Jason and I have a marriage like that!

I love valentine's day. I think it is a great holiday to take time out and really let your family and friends know how much you love them! yes, I understand you should let them know all the time that you love them and it might just be a "hallmark holiday" but it's still so nice. Jason always complains because he does think it's a "stupid" holiday, but he always manages to surprise me with the sweetest things.

Growing up, my mom always made a big deal out of the holiday. We kids would always make homemade valentines our of red, pink, or white heart shaped doilies or conversation hearts to give to each other and our parents. We would sometimes make cookies and buy chocolates. I loved the valentine exchange at school and would always re-read all of the little cards I got over and over and wonder if some of the boys really meant what their cards would say haha When we kids would wake up, there was always a card and a little box of chocolates waiting for us on the table. What a great way to start the day!

Even though I teach 5th grade, I still make a big deal out of V-Day. We don't really have a "party", but we exchange valentines and maybe partake in a cookie or two ;) I love seeing the kids' faces when they open all of their cards and I even love receiving some of the gifts that they give me. The homemade ones are clearly the best :) I always laugh under my breath when I notice the girls doing the same things that I would do...they'd open the card from their "crush" first and then blush and giggle and show all their friends (and we all know those poor boys don't mean a word of it and probably didn't even look at what their mom's had bought them)

This year, Jason and I get to go away for Valentine's weekend. This is the first time ever! We always try and plan something but it never works. This year we are going to Blowing Rock to stay the weekend and snowboard, tube, and have a fun time. I really can't wait!

I hope that you all have a wonderful Valentine's weekend and that you remember to tell everyone special in your life that you love them :)

hugs and kisses to you all

SNOW DAY!

So we had our first snow in 3 or 4 years..where the snow actually stuck to the ground! We got about 6 inches and it was beautiful. I'm glad we have a shady yard b/c we were able to keep the snow for like 4 days! Here are some pictures from it..the dogs LOVED it. It made them super hyper and it was so cute to see them running through it, eating it, wrestling...hilarious. We let the cats on the porch to experience it (they don't go outside) and they were not sure what to think!

2009...the year of the Greens

Wow..it's been a long time since we updated! I'm not too good at this but our life is crazy busy. The holidays were wonderful! We spent the first week here with my family and then the 2nd week up in NH with Jason's family. It was a great time b/c we got to spend time with our 2 cute nephews! We saw lots of snow (which I loved) and just had a great time visiting.

Jason and I are both finishing up our LAST SEMESTER OF GRAD SCHOOL!! We are soo excited to see what life has planned for us. We'll graduate in May and we're hoping Jason will get hired on as a full time worker with ECU athletics. We'd like to stay in Greenville a little bit longer because we've met such great friends and both really really love our jobs!

Elizabeth is out in Colorado for the semester working with the US Olympic shooting team! She's having so much fun and her pictures are great. John and Laura are coming along on their wedding...time is flying and August will be here before we know it!

Lastly, we got about 6 inches of snow yesterday! I couldn't have been MORE excited! It's been about 4 years since we had a nice "big" snow like this. The dogs and cats LOVED it..I'll post pics later!

That's all for now..I'll try to get better at posting new stuff..

hugs and kiss :) MC

Wii Tournament!

Ok so my family takes it Wii'ing slightly too far? Here are some pics from this weekends wii tennis tournament...brackets, game faces and all haha

It's been a while!

ok WOW! It's been way over a year since our last post! A lot has happened :o)  We celebrated our 1st anniversary December 30, 2007 and ate the top of our wedding cake (believe it or not it was still sooo good!)

We have welcomed two nephews (Jason's brother had a son 7/11/07 named Austin and his sister Jenny had a son 7/31/08 named Ethan). We are both in our final year of graduate school (can you say yessssssss?) and we plan on graduating in May! My brother got engaged to Laura in May and we couldn't be happier!! They are planning a wedding 8/15/09 in Little Switzerland, NC...if you've never been or seen pictures...check it out. Absolutely GORGEOUS! We cannot wait!!

I'm still working as a 5th grade teacher here in Greenville and still enjoying it! My class did exceptionally well on their EOG's and I'm looking forward to see what this new crop of kids have to offer! Jason is still working for ECU athletics and enjoying every minute of it. He's hoping to stay on after graduation to get even more experience! His major, sports management, is one of those fields where you need a lot of experience and connections and he's definitely getting that!

All in all it's been a wonderful summer and we will hopefully have a more exciting post in the next few weeks....*new house cough cough* :-D

Cheers!
